Each room at Fairy Tales follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), this is the first part of the National Curriculum.

We initially observe each child to establish their base line development level and, focusing on their interests and next steps obtain numerous spontaneous observations and regular in the moment focused observations to enable each individual to reach their full potential.

Key persons are responsible for their child's Focused in the moment planning and do this in conjunction with parents.

The Little Stars Room

Our main aim within our Little Stars room is to provide a secure, homely and loving environment for all.  Staff will talk to our babies to encourage a wide vocabulary, while the nursery will be filled with colour and sound the room will offer a variety of toys to cater for various stages of development.

All babies have individual needs, these will be discussed when you and your child have the pre-visit also a page at the back of the brochure has been allocated for you to make a note of the routine that your baby follows at home so we can continue this to our best at nursery to make the day feel as familiar and secure as possible.

As our Little Stars become toddlers they love to discover the world around them. Our toys and equipment are carefully chosen to offer a wide variety of learning and development experiences.

Our daily activities include messy play, creative exploration and outdoor play as well as story time, free play and songs and rhymes.

Each child has their own blankets and cotton sheets for a restful sleep when necessary.

The Sunshine Room

The sunshine room is a happy, lively and stimulating environment, which offers opportunity for children to express themselves and explore the space around them. Free time is spent mainly throughout the day to encourage turn taking, sharing of toys, and group games to help children develop caring relationships towards others.

Imagination play, music-time, stories and outdoor play are all part of the Sunshine room’s daily routine, with creative play and circle time to encourage concentration and listening skills. The Sunshine room is a secure and cared environment based on fun and happiness.

The Rainbow Room

In the Rainbow room we concentrate on the distinct needs of the children aged 3 - 5. There are seven Learning areas within the EYFS:

  • Communication and language;
  • Physical development;
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy;
  • Mathematics;
  • Understanding the world;
  • Expressive arts and design

Each area has learning goals. These are the progressive steps throughout the Foundation stage.

Each child is an individual and will not always fit into a set pattern; therefore in our planning we use child’s interest along with regular observations to allow each child to reach their full potential. Well-planned play is central to children’s learning in the foundation stage. We can help children achieve this by challenging children, have a positive attitude, giving children time to practice, asking open ended questions and by valuing every child.

The rainbow room has an open plan feel where children can access craft / toys of their own choice, there is also a quiet area if children require a rest or a story on the comfy sofas and settee.

In 2019 we invested in a interactive white board for the children and a brand new sensory room to promote a calm and a relaxation area for the well-being of our SEND and nursery children.
